Differences Between Mi Band 5 vs Amazfit Bip S
- DESIGN
- ACTIVITY TRACKING
- BATTERY LIFE
- SMART FEATURES
- PRICE
Both Amazfit Bip s and Mi band 5 have a sturdy build comprising of a polycarbonate case, while silicone has been used for Bip S straps and TPU for Mi Band 5 which results in a very lightweight design that is very comfortable to wear.
With AMOLED powering the display of Mi Band 5, it has a more colorful and richer display compared to reflective LCD of Bip S. Both can easily be read easily even under sunlight. Interacting with Mi Band 5 is via a touchkey, while Bip S has touchscreen support. Again, navigation is easy on both devices, but Bip S is easier to navigate with a physical button.
Both Mi band 5 and Bip S are rated 5ATM (waterproof rating up to 50 meters), so it’s safe to wear any of these to the pool or ocean.
The bottom line, each of the two devices has got a decent design that makes any of these two very comfortable to wear all day long.
Both Mi Band 5 and Bip S are marketed as fitness and health monitoring devices, as a result, any of these two will track your daily activities such as steps, calories, distance, sleep, and continuous heart rate tracking. However, Bip S is equipped with an inbuilt GPS that enables you to track and map your routes. Although, Mi Band 5 can also track outdoor activities by connecting to your phone GPS which you can view from the Mi Fit app.
Additionally, Mi Band 5 features menstrual cycle tracking, a feature that allows women to log and monitor period cycle. It also features blood oxygen saturation tracking and can also help you monitor stress through a guided breathing session. Bip S lacks these features, and moreover, Mi Band 5 has more preset workout modes.
One of the main selling factors for the Bip family is the very long battery life of every smartwatch on the Bip lineup. Although each of these two has a long battery life that makes any of these a great choice for individuals that want to track long durational activities. While Bip S will keep you going for over a month, Mi Band 5 can last up to 20 days and 14 days with continuous tracking.
The Chinese version of Mi Band 5 has NFC that allows you to make payment with Ali Pay and Union Pay. It also equipped with a MEMS microphone that gives you access to XiaoAI voice assistant. These features are not available yet on the international version of Mi Band 5. Bip S lacks these features.
Mi Band 5 is far cheaper than Bip S which is in-line with previous Mi Band versions that are also very cheap.
Which Should You Buy?
Any of these two will make a decent choice for tracking and managing your fitness goals and a perfect companion for managing updates on your phone. Both are low priced fitness trackers, priced below $100.
I’ll still choose Amazfit Bip S, it’s got more fitness tracking features and also has very long battery life.
