Which is Better Between Garmin Vivoactive 4 vs Fitbit Versa 3?

  • Design
  • You will agree with me that each of these two smartwatches is a comprehensive fitness tracker with a decent design and long battery life. Both smartwatches are very lightweight and certainly, comfortable to wear. I didn’t have any problem wearing the Versa 3 all day long as it’s very compact. It’s more compact than Vivoactive 4 which is also compact. Although, the circular design of Vivoactive 4 alongside the stainless steel bezel leaves it with a more attractive design than Versa 3.

  • Display
  • The AMOLED display of Versa 3 is more colorful than the LCD display of Vivoactive 4. Both smartwatches allow you to interact with the device through a touchscreen. However, the Versa 3 has a haptic button which I don’t really like because it can be unresponsive sometimes, Meanwhile, Vivoactive 4 has 2 physical buttons that makes accessing the watch easier.

Any of these two will track your sleep in stages and show trends in the respective companion app. Heart rate tracking is also available on these two smartwatches as well as the presence of inbuilt GPS that allows you to track your locations, pace, and distance without carrying your phone along.

Fitbit Versa 3 features 20 preset sport modes that you can choose from, it’s about the same number of sport modes on Vivoactive 4. And there’s Fitbit Coach that features animated workout modes on Versa 3, so also is Vivoactive 4, this can save you money on a subscription.

I like the fact that Vivoactive 4 allows you to track your blood oxygen on demand unlike Versa 3 that only tracks your blood oxygen when you sleep. So, it’s safe to say that both smartwatches offer lots of fitness tracking features, but Vivoactive 4 has even more fitness tracking features.

  • Media
  • Any of these two will allow you to store your favorite tracks on the watch, but Vivoactive 4 allows you to store personal music which Versa 3 lacks.

Versa 3 has a loudspeaker and microphone that allows you to answer calls on the watch which is not possible on Vivoactive 4. Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant are also available on Versa 3 which allows you to do simple tasks with your voice.

  • Notifications
  • I like that you can set up notifications for both Versa 3 and Vivoactive 4, you can also reply notifications on both smartwatches.

  • Battery Life

The battery life of any of these two smartwatches is also very promising, you can get multiple days of battery life. I got about 5 days long battery life which is about the same as Vivoactive 4.

So, which is better?

I will go with Versa 3 because it’s far cheaper than Vivoactive 4, it also has a microphone and a loudspeaker that is not so useful as you can’t make calls or play media files aloud, but allow you answer calls on the watch. There is also a voice assistant on Versa 3 and it also offers a decent long battery life.

However, Vivoactive 4 has a more attractive and durable design as well as equipped with more in-house fitness tracking features.
