The very popular Galaxy Watch Active 2 which succeeds in the Galaxy Active 1 comes in two sizes; 40mm and 44mm, and each of these two sizes is available in LTE and Bluetooth only model. As you may have guessed, the difference in sizes, is Samsung giving users options to choose the size that best fits your wrist. Like I have already recommended in my previous comparison of the Active 2 44mm vs 40mm, the 40mm model is a better choice for women and anyone with a small wrist, while the bigger 44mm model is more suitable wear for men or those with fat wrist. Don’t get me wrong, any of these two can make a fantastic fit for both men and women, but it depends on your wrist size. However, in this post, I’ll be comparing the Galaxy Active 2 (40mm) Bluetooth vs LTE to help you decide which of these two smartwatches will make a better choice for you.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 2 (40mm) Bluetooth vs LTE: The Differences

  1. Case Material
  2. The first difference between the LTE and Bluetooth model of Active 2 is the case material. While the LTE has a case made of a more durable stainless steel material, the Bluetooth has a case material made of aluminum which is lighter. So if you mind the slight difference in weight, then the Bluetooth model will make a better choice. Moreover, its a more suitable wear if you do lots of sport activities where every difference in weight matters.

  3. Weight
  4. Secondly, as a result of the difference in case materials, the Bluetooth model at 26g weighs a little less than the LTE model, 37g. Although, each of these is still very lightweight when compared to the industry average of 65-80g (including straps).

  5. Straps
  6. The straps also differ, while the Bluetooth model comes with fluoroelastomer straps, the LTE model comes with leather straps which leaves it with a classic, and more classy appearance.

  7. Colors
  8. There is also difference in the available color options, while you can get the LTE models in silver, black and gold colors, the Bluetooth model is available in cloud-silver, aqua-black, and pink-gold colors.

  9. Cellular Connectivity

The main difference between the Bluetooth and LTE model of the Active 2 is the presence of eSIM in the LTE model that enables cellular connectivity up to 4G LTE, a capability the Bluetooth model lacks. This makes the LTE model a standalone smartwatch as it allows you to make and receive calls directly from the watch independent of your phone. This comes with its level of convenience that can be very helpful in certain circumstances.

You can still make and receive calls from the Bluetooth model, but you’ll need to connect to your phone Bluetooth to do that, which means you’ll have to carry your phone along if you must make a call from the watch. I don’t think this matters much, and its cheaper which is why I ordered the Bluetooth model.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 2 (40mm) Bluetooth vs LTE: Which is Better For You?

Besides the differences in straps, colors, weight, case material, and cellular connectivity, the Bluetooth and LTE both have the same features. So, it all boils down to price and the additional features which make the LTE a more comprehensive smartwatch.

You should buy the LTE model if you really care about the standalone features, but it’ll cost you more money. I still prefer the Bluetooth model, its no doubt a decent choice.
