There’s no doubt that both the Active 2 and GT 2 are fantastic smartwatches. But then, taking into consideration the minutes differences like the size, appearance, and more. Despite having a slightly bigger 1.4 inches display size, the Active 2 is still a more compact smartwatch compared to the 46mm GT 2 that’s somewhat bulky. There’s also a smaller sized GT 2 42mm which lacks Bluetooth calling feature.
With Active 2, you get more watch faces compared to the GT 2 with fewer watchfaces to choose from. Active 2 has a digital rotating bezel which the GT 2 lacks, and in addition, is the touch-responsive display and 2 physical buttons that make navigating the interface very easy. Although, the GT 2 is still very much easy to navigate with the touchscreen support and 2 physical buttons.
Both the Active 2 and GT 2 will allow you make and receive calls directly from the watch by connecting to your phone Bluetooth, but the Active 2 LTE model is a standalone smartwatch and comes with eSIM that enables cellular connectivity and allows you to make and receive calls from the watch independent of your phone.
While you can store music on both the GT 2 and Active 2, you can only stream music from popular services such as Spotify on Active 2.
Moreover, the Active 2 gives you more options to respond to messages using your voice or preset messages, a feature the GT 2 lacks. There’s also a Bixby voice assistant feature that allows you to do simple tasks simply with your voice unlike the GT 2 which lacks voice assistant features.
Samsung Pay is also present on Active 2 and allows you to make payments directly from the watch unlike the GT 2 which has this feature restricted to only the Chinese version.
Both the GT 2 and Active 2 are fitness-focused smartwatches that are well equipped to track your active life comprehensively. Each of these two will track your sleep and heart rate comprehensively, calories, stress, steps, and many other related metrics with inbuilt GPS enabling outdoor activity tracking. But the GT 2 features menstrual cycle and blood oxygen tracking that the Active 2 lacks. Meanwhile, the Active 2 features more preloaded sport modes than you can get on the GT 2, it also features blood pressure and ECG tracking which the GT 2 lacks.
In all, both the GT 2 and Active 2 have lots of fitness tracking features that can help you reach more fitness goals.
Battery life is where the GT 2 shines far above the Active 2, it has a longer battery life than the Active 2. With GT 2, you can get over a week battery life with mixed usage which is far longer than about 3 days of Active 2.
Which is Better?
Personally I think the GT 2 is a more attractive smartwatch than Active 2, but I’ll choose the Active 2 over the GT 2 anytime.
The Active 2 is a smarter smartwatch with more features that can improve your productivity. However, GT 2 is a better choice if you want to go long from a single charge, it’s also one of the best fitness trackers, and that makes it a great bargain.
