The Versa family has welcomed a new member in Versa 3, its the latest addition to a generation of Fitbit smartwatches, perhaps some of the most popular smartwatches on their product line. The Versa 2 introduced microphone with Amazon Alexa and an AMOLED display, now the Versa 3 welcomes a loudspeaker with inbuilt GPS. In this post, I compare the differences between Fitbit Versa vs Versa 2 vs Versa 3 features. I already own two Fitbit smartwatches, Versa 2 and Versa 3, so this comparison is from my personal experience with these two smartwatches.

What’s the Difference?
- Going by design, each of the three Fitbit smartwatches is very lightweight and fits nicely on the wrist. Although, Versa 2 and Versa 3 have AMOLED powered display that is more colorful than the LCD display of Versa. Moreover, Versa 2 and Versa have physical buttons which I find more useful than the touch-sensitive button on Versa 3. You need to press it hard to get a response.
- In terms of fitness tracking, all three smartwatches can track your sleep, heart rate, calories, steps, distance, and more. Preset sport modes are also available on all three. However, Versa 2 and Versa 3 feature SpO2 blood oxygen that tracks your blood oxygen overnight which Versa lacks. Moreover, Versa 3 features an onscreen workout coach that coach you through as you workout. Although not so many workouts are available, perhaps feature updates will add more workouts.
- Versa 3 has inbuilt GPS which Versa 2 and Versa lacks and as such you can track your routes, locations, pace, and more without carrying your phone along. This brings a lot of conveniences which Versa 2 and Versa lacks. You will need to carry your phone along with any of these two if you intend to track outdoor activities.
- Both Versa 2 and Versa 3 have a microphone that enables Alexa which comes in handy in helping you do simple tasks with your voice, this isn’t possible with Versa. Moreover, Versa 3 has a loudspeaker that allows you to make and receive calls directly from the watch which you can’t do with the other two.
- All three smartwatches have music storage, but it’s quite unfortunate that you can only add music to the Versa 3 through premium services such as Deezer, Spotify, or Pandora. Unlike Versa 2 and Versa where you can easily add music by transferring from your computer.
- All three smartwatches have long battery life that allows you to go long from a single charge. However, Versa 3 has the longest battery life. I got 6 days of battery life with Versa 3, while Versa 2 normally gets me about 4-5 days battery life, with Versa, it’s a less than that.
Which Should You Buy?
The Versa 3 is the best smartwatch amongst these three. It has the most features even though I’m not a fan of the touch-sensitive button and the fact that you can’t add your personal music. The Versa 3 has inbuilt GPS which is the only reason why I would recommend it, otherwise, Versa 2 is a cheaper and fantastic alternative.
The Versa which has been discontinued is still a great choice if you’re really tight on budget.
